Every football manager will receive a predefined team from the start, composed of 11 players and 9 reserves, as well as 2 trainers.
Each player has different characteristics which are developed through training. I will explain below what are the characteristics of every player and how the Actual Scoring (AS) is calculated.
Every player has a specific position in the field which you cannot change. If you put him on a different position the Position Coefficient (PC) will drop.
The key football characteristics are:
- Long Shot
- Head Shot
If you add all of them and divide by 9 you have the Goal Scoring (GS) of your player.
Except from that, every player has 4 other metrics that determine its efficiency. Those are:
- Morale: The morale increases by 5 point after every goal the player scores. Also, after 2 consecutive winning matches, all your players will get 20 morale points. The moral is set to 100 every time a new season starts.
- Energy: The energy increases every time your players consumes food and from the hotel. It decreases with training and by playing matches.
- Form: That increases by 5 points for the starting eleven players and 2.5 for the reserves. At the rest of the team, it decreases by 7.5 points for every game they are out of the squad.
- Experience: According to the division of your team your players gain experience points as follows: 0.5 for the 1st division, 0.4 for second etc. with 0.1 points as a minimum.
The Efficient Coefficiency (EC) is calculated if you multiply the energy by 3, then add them all and divide by 4.
As you can see the energy plays an extremely important factor in the final scoring. It also increases the training speed so you must pay extra attention to always have high energy levels to your players.
If you add all the Actual Scoring (AC) of your players, that makes your overall Team Scoring. This is the most important factor as the higher the Team Scoring the more chances you have to beat your opponents.
When reaching a certain age your players will retire and become coaches. That is 40 for goalkeepers, 38 for defenders, 36 for midfielders and 35 for attackers. Remember the 1 year in GoalTycoon equals 1 month of real time. As coaches, they will keep the highest skill they had as players reduced by half. For example, if you had a player with 50 skill on stamina as a coach this skill will be 25. All coaches retire at age of 62.
As with players, coaches can only reach a maximum level of ability according to their talent. You can send your coaches to school in order to increase their coaching ability.
Every player and coach has a value and salary paid in local currency. The salary increases every day as your player’s ability progresses through training. You should always keep an eye a player’s salary when bidding on the transfer market. You don’t want to ruin your budget by signing many high paid players.
At any time you can dismiss a player or coach if you want to get rid of his salary or if no one bids for him. You have 7 days to recall him if you change your mind. During that time you will keep paying his salary. You can only dismiss one player or coach per day.
Every team can sign a deal with a sponsor and earn around 2000 of local currency every day. All you have to do is to sign in every day and collect the bonus. That be very useful, especially in the beginning where your incomes are very low. The sponsorship deal lasts one month and you have to renew it.
In the next tutorial, we will deal with a very important aspect of the game, the training of your team.
